Oregon Coast Weather
So what’s the weather like on the Oregon Coast? A question we hear often. Well, Oregon Coast weather is, generally speaking, mild. It has been compared to a Mediterranean climate.
Summers are great! As in many places with multiple seasons, here on the coast we wait for summertime: beautiful sunshine, clean air, hot sand. Great time for barbecuing on the deck, camping, hiking, kayaking, you name it, outdoor activities dominate.
Coast summer temperatures are usually in the high 60’s to low 70’s. Sure, sometimes the marine layer may cause fog to creep in, but it blows away, and you may still end up with a beautiful Oregon Coast sunset!

Spring and Fall are excellent times for Oregon Coast weather. Sunshine, mid to high 60’s, with some rain sprinkled in – it wouldn’t be the Northwest without it!
Winter temperatures are in the high 40’s to low 50’s during the day, dipping into the high 30’s at night. The Oregon Coast has its share of winter storms, which can be quite interesting: some people enjoy visiting the coast just for the storms. The wind is probably the main attraction: it howls, causes high, amazing waves, and even topples some trees. It’s a way of life here, though. And can be kind of exciting.
So what about that rain that probably everyone knows Oregon for? Yes, there is rain. Sometimes is just drizzles, for days on end during the winter months. The Oregon Coast is once again special (yes, we’d like to think so): it can get a break in between winter storms and see some blue sky, while those on the other side of the Coastal Range Mountains may not be so lucky.
One thing’s for sure: no matter the Oregon Coast weather, this place is beautiful. Nothing can beat the morning sunshine reflecting on the tip of the waves just as they break, or the amazing sunsets that make everything around glow. Hard to describe, really. But once you experience it, you’ll want to be there again and again for it. There is certainly something about that ocean, so vast and so beautiful. No matter what the weather might bring, living here or just visiting, is quite special. I’ve seen a saying “if you’re lucky enough to live at the beach, you’re lucky enough”.
