Oregon Coast Campgrounds
If you’re into camping, what would be better than staying right by the ocean, hearing the crashing waves, watching the sunset from your tent or RV, waking up slowly, taking a nice long walk on the beach …?
Well, Oregon Coast campgrounds are available all along the coastline. There are three types of campgrounds: State, National Forest, and private ones. According to Oregon State authorities, there are 37 state parks along Central Coast.
For information about campground reservations, visit the Oregon Parks and Recreation site!
While most of these 37 state parks are day use only, there are 6 overnight campgrounds: 4 on the beachside, while the other 2 are inland a bit. If camping on Oregon Coast means staying close to the beach, then here are the four campgrounds located beachside:
- Beverly Beach State Park located just north of Newport, near the Otter Crest area and the Devil’s Punch Bowl surfing spot.
- South Beach State Park, located just south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge, close to the Oregon Coast Aquarium at Newport, and the historic Newport Waterfront.
- Beachside State Park located between Waldport and Yachats. If you’re not sure where these coastal towns are located, check out the Oregon Coast map.
- Carl G. Washbourne State Park located between Yachats and Florence, close to the Heceta Head Lighthouse, a historic lighthouse reached via a short hike – it has a great vantage point for whale watching.
These Oregon Coast campgrounds provide various camping options, from tent sites to electric only to full hook-ups for RVs.

Imagine camping on Oregon Coast, right by the ocean, with a gorgeaus view just outside your tent or RV. Beachside State Park and Tillicum Campground, both between Waldport and Yachats, offer such wonderful campsites. We camped there many times in the past. The beach access is nearby, the beach itself is long, wide, beautiful. What a wonderful time…

The rates have ranged from $13/night for a tent site to $18/night for a full hook-up site during the winter season and $18 – $22 during the summer. Some Oregon Coast campgrounds also offer yurts, cabins, or teepees for rent which are around $30/night. Most campgrounds offer facilities such as showers, restrooms, and dump stations for RVs.

There are varied activities available near these Oregon Coast campgrounds, from beach combing and exploring, to hiking, biking, kayaking, and wildlife and bird watching, as most of the campgrounds are located in the forest near the beach and in close proximity to Oregon Coast towns.
