Newport Oregon
Newport Oregon is a beautiful city on the Oregon Coast. It is the county seat for Lincoln County and houses many governmental offices.
One thing that distinguishes Newport from other coastal towns is the beautiful Yaquina Bay Bridge, first opened in 1936. The Yaquina River is about 50 miles long and originates in the mountains west of Corvallis Oregon in the Willamette Valley.

Newport is also a fishing town. At any time, fishing vessels can be seen going out to sea or returning from long fishing days on the ocean. Fresh seafood can be purchased on many of the docks in the historic waterfront area, including tuna, crab, salmon and more. Nothing like fresh seafood right off the docks!

The main thoroughfare through Newport is Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Highway 101. It is lined by business offices, shops, restaurants, gas stations.

Newport and Lincoln County residents and visitors alike appreciate culture. Newport has a wonderful Performing Arts Center, which opened in 1988. It is a large facility, at 23,000 square foot building, and it includes a large auditorium, nice lobby where local art is displayed, dressing rooms, a studio theater/rehearsal room, as well as its administrative offices. It has a great location, close to the beach, and nearby hotels and restaurants.

One of the main attractions in Newport is of course the beach. Miles and miles of sandy beach and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The renovated and working Yaquina Bay lighthouse is visible from many areas of the Newport coastline.
