Florence Oregon

As many cities along the coast, Florence Oregon is beautiful. Some number of years ago is was boasted as the best place to retire. It still is a great place to be: miles of sandy beaches, local shopping, great dining, and many activities including horse back riding on the beach!

A bit smaller than Newport, its population is about 7000 full time residents. There is quaint old waterfront part of town, with nice shops and excellent restaurants.

The famous sand dunes are nearby for lots of fun in the sand. Fun on the water is also available: besides the obvious Pacific Ocean, there is the Siuslaw River, about 110 miles long, coming out of the Coastal Range into the ocean.
